Traveling to tijuana

DRIVE AND PARK

Head south on 805 or 5 exit 1A for Camino De La Plaza. At the signal, make a right and then another immediate right into Bonder Station Parking, 4570 Damino De La Plaza, San Ysidro CA 92173.

PARK AND RIDE

If you are staying in San Diego, hop the city’s MTS Trolley all the way down to the border, just the same way you can hop it to old Town or Qualcomn stadium. MTS website is www.sdmts.com for schedule times and station areas.

Remember to CHECK TIMES LEAVING BORDER NORTH. If you miss the last trolley, then you are in for an expensive taxi ride to your hotel or car.

CROSSING THE US-MEXICO BORDER
Once you have parked or exited the trolley, make your way to Rail Ct (south of McDonalds). Follow the crowd to the Mexican Port of Entry.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ENTER MEXICO WITHOUT A PASSPORT, PASSPORT CARD OR SENTRI.

You will be required to show documentation and if you bring a backpack, it might be scanned. So be sure you are not bringing in anything illegal.

Once you exit the port of entry, follow the sidewalk to the taxi pickup area, pick a taxi, tell your driver your hotel name and you are set. Off you go.

If you are using Transportation arranged by H&SL, walk across the street away from the taxi, you will see ‘Farmacias Milenio’, that is your pick up spot.

DRIVING IN

It is more doable than people say it is navigating the tangle of streets and freeways of modern cities like Tijuana. Tijuana is no more difficult than any metro area in the US.

Our recommended hotels are close to the border and have secure parking space.

Note: Most U.S. cell phone service providers might provide voice and text but only a few of them provide 4G service in Mexico. It is advisable that you print or do a screenshot of your driving map.

Also make sure that you purchase Mexican auto insurance. You can ask your rental car provider for assistance on this.
